Experiment to taste. It is certified organic, 100% pure and contains no animal products of any kind.Made from the Agave Salmiana (not the Blue Agave) that grows in the high desert regions of central Mexico. Agave nectar has a low glycemic index of 32. Compare to 58 for honey and 64 for table sugar. Agave has the same calories as honey, but as most folks find it to be sweeter less is needed. Mounting evidence has shown that heat destroys many of the nutrients found in raw, living food, rendering it harder to digest and nutritionally diminished. Raw food is catching on! From Hollywood stars with personal chefs, to a host of chic new Manhattan restaurants, the Raw Food movement is sweeping the country as people learn about the dramatic health benefits derived by eating a vegan diet in which food is never heated above 118 degrees Fahrenheit. Entrees may get all the attention, but side dishes quietly make the meal. And let's face it, snacks make life worth living! Every recipe in this collection of amazing sides and snacks is SUPER easy to prepare. You'll never be out of ideas for rounding out a meal or what to take to a potluck. And speaking of parties, this book's section on spreads and dips will have your guests craving your FABULOUS appetizers without even realizing... they're eating the world's healthiest food. Includes an extra bonus chapter on Raw vegan breakfast! This Raw food vegan recipe book also includes a "Raw Basics" introduction to Raw food (with 6 basic "must have" recipes) for people who are new to the subject. lack of colour

I was extremely excited about receiving my books since I had ordered a few of them and planned to get all. But I was even more disappointed to learn that none of them had pictures. The website is what really sold me on getting them since it was all colourful but very disheartened when i learned they didn't have any pictures as a form of reference. Debbi

Another great raw vegan cookbook by Kristen Suzanne. Who couldn't use more recipes for sides and snacks? Ch 1. Raw Basics. This is really great info that is in all of her Easy Raw books. I use her Minute nut milk recipe at least once a week. Ch 2. Side Dishes.. Side dishes are great to take to family gatherings. Some of the recipes in this chapter are:* Mashed cauliflower with ginger and garlic * Black Hummus * Mouth- Watering Delicious Cranberry Relish * Greg's Marinated Olives * Flying Dragon Broccoli * Frais Fries * The Greatest Hummus in the WorldCh 3 Spreads, Dips and Sauces* Kristen Suzanne's Famous Olive Tapenade * Giddee-Up Avocado Dip * Seaside Cottage Spread * Light-n-Lively Tahini Parsely Dressing * Raw Savory Sweet Ketchup * Cheezy Nacho Dip * Herbin' Ranch Dip * Creamy Zinger Garlic DipCh 4 Snacks* Simply Sweet Pumpkin Seeds * Sweet Vanilla Rain Sunflower Seeds * Cajun Spice Nuts * Zucchini MunchiesCh 5 Breakfast* Sunny Morning Cereal * Creamy Breakfast Mousse * Carnival Caramel Apple BreakfastThis is a great cookbook- and would be wonderful for the vegan or non-vegan who just wants to get more raw food into their diet.

LOVE THESE RECIPES!!! :)

by Amanda Lippi from Los Angeles, CA on 2009-07-06
I highly recommend this recipe book! I LOVE it! My boyfriend and I are new to the Raw Food lifestyle and this is one of the first recipe books I got. I must say that I am very impressed with the recipes that we tried so far. I was hoping for recipes that did not involve dehydrating or anything too involved seeing as we are newbies. We were not let down! This book is a perfect fit for us. We are slowly transitioning to Raw by incorporating raw foods a little at a time. Kristen Suzanne's Easy Raw Vegan Sides & Snacks is a great way to transition. We are impressed with how delicious the recipes have been. We are in love with the Creamy Breakfast Mousse! It is so refreshing. :-) This was the first raw recipe that my boyfriend tried and I believe it is what got him hooked! Two of our favorites are the Worldly Spiced Rice and the Flying Dragon Broccoli. We love the flavors! We double the recipe so we have leftovers. This past weekend I made the Fun Chocolate Applesauce for my little cousin and she kept going back for more! We are looking forward to trying all the dips. We made the Orange Sunset Salsa and loved it so much we made some more the same night! The best part about the sides and snacks is that they are easy to incorporate with our vegan-cooked meals as we are starting to eliminate more cooked foods. Another huge perk is that the ingredients are not hard to find! My boyfriend has been taking leftovers to work to share with all his work buddies to let them taste how delicious Raw Vegan food can be! I will be purchasing all of her books! Thanks Kristen!

Extremely Good Value for Amazing Tasting Recipes

by Terry from Bellevue, WA USA on 2009-04-15
Just about everybody familiar with the raw food books available out there knows that Kristen Suzanne is especially famous for amazing, subtle flavors and wickedly cool combinations, tasting so good in fact that many people who've previously been disappointed by raw food (because so many raw recipes fall flat, taste like mush, or at best all taste the same) end up truly embracing the lifestyle after trying Ms. Suzanne's completely unique recipes. In short, if you haven't tried her books, you haven't begun to experience all that raw food has to offer.I'm compelled to write in response to the reviewer who called this book a "pamphlet" (despite buying Ms. Suzanne's other books?)... this is baseless. They are short only in that they cover one type of dish or topic (desserts, entrees, smoothies, etc.), but they cover that topic more completely than any book that I've come across yet. I love the format. It really lets you dive in and explore, offers something for veterans but is also 100% accessible to beginners too. Which brings me to my next point...Pamphlet lady said that the books repeat recipes. Let me clarify: Each of Ms. Suzanne's books (so far as I know) comes with a standard intro for beginners that includes six "basic" recipes that everybody exploring raw food should have (such as rejuvalac and nut milk). If you've read this in one book, you're just supposed to skip it in her subsequent books. This isn't rocket science; it's really helpful for beginners and is spelled out really clearly in the intro, and also on Ms. Suzanne's website, which includes a list of all of the recipes in all of her books (http://kristensraw.com/recipe_lists.php#sides).Regarding the recipes, this book has a whopping 60 recipes, broken down as follows: the 6 basics (these are the ones repeated in all her books), 24 side dishes, 18 spreads, dips, and sauces, 6 snacks, and 6 breakfasts. Trust me, there's more great sides and snacks here than I've found anywhere, which again, is the nature of Ms. Suzanne's multi-book format... tons of recipes, you just choose the books you want. This book is 80 pages and only costs twelve dollars. So for 60 recipes, it's a great value and calling it a pamphlet is just the empty gripe of somebody who's more into bells and whistles, and big books with lots of white space and airy quotes... than super amazing recipes you won't find anywhere else. This is one of my favorites of Kristen Suzanne, along with her soup and holidays books. I've found the types of "everyday" recipes are great for adding lots of raw into your life, whereas the entrees and desserts books are great for family meals or exposing new people to raw by taking dishes to parties, etc, that everyone asks about. (I haven't tried her hemp book but I just confirmed that the Whole Foods near me carries hemp products so I plan on getting that one next.)Highly recommended.

Great cookbook for anyone

I'm not a Raw Vegan (or even a Vegan for that matter), but I love this recipe book. I've tried many of the recipes already and even my toddler loves them. If you're looking for healthy recipes that are fun to make and serve (and take to dinner parties), you'll definitely want to get a copy.

Painful!

by Cindy Peterson from on 2010-01-23
I can't believe the other reviewers have ever watched a 'cooking' show if they think this is a great DVD. It is soooo painfully slow. The producers could do with watching a 'real' show and seeing what a bit of editing can achieve. Most shows would have all the ingreds measured out and in containers & as they add them to the recipe the host says "1/2 cup goji berries, 1 tsp cinnamon" etc. With this one not only does she laboriously list, by pointing to it, every ingredient, she then goes about measuring it all out, putting lids on & off (and the recipe is also printed on the screen at the end - which is a great idea & makes you wonder why the drawn out listing of them at the begining). Other DVDs would edit out boring bits like stiring - you'd see them start to stir then you'd see the end of the stiring to show you how it should look - not this DVD you get to witness 2 full minutes of stiring a cookie recipe, might not sound like long but stare at a TV screen for 2 minutes watching the same thing & you'll see what I mean. The host also seems unable to chat while she is preparing the food & needs to stop what shes doing to talk. Overall it doesn't make for very interesting viewing. I also felt a bit ripped off with the recipes. She makes a great ceasar salad dressing & then there is a whole other segment on how to make a ceasar salad. Her 'recipe' : take a romaine lettuce & cut it up (we are shown how to cut lettuce) & now pour the previously made dressing on it! That's it - that counted as a whole segment. Cut up lettuce, but of course she did labour to tell us how to put it into a serving bowl! I will be returning it as I am sure there is much better out there :(

Couldn't get any better than DVD. AMAZING!

by Gerardo Cando from on 2009-12-08
If I could give this Video more than 5 stars I would. I have several Raw Food Books - this is simply the best way for me to "get it": VIDEO! All of the salad dressings are incredible. All delicious. And easy to make.. now I just make a big bottle at a time and keep it in the fridge, they keep well for a long time. I love them all: Poppyseed, Ginger Date, Zesty Lemon, Balsamic vinaigrette. The Caesar dressing tastes like the real thing. Amazing and it is vegan! It tastes like the popular brand we used to use: Renees, which my family loves. My son will eat salads now with this dressing. And if you think this was it, think again... check out the rest of the series: Robin Gregory's Joy of Living Foods - How to make Raw Italian favorites - Zucchetti and Lasagna Robin Gregory's Joy of Living Foods - Pizza, Pizza, PIZZA!

No butter and cream, this is the real deal without the guilt.

by Jose Rogelio De Leon from USA on 2009-12-08
Learned how to make green smoothies. I was amazed to learn how easy it is to make the green smoothies that she shows. But the ChocoMonkey is my favorite, so creamy and delicious. And raw chocolate is incredibly good for you (one of the highest ranking foods ever tested on the Orac scale for antioxidants)Everything is easy to make. I had no idea making raw foods would be so easy, or so delicious. There is not one recipe that didn't make my mouth water. Salads are simple yet flavorful. There are many colorful recipes to brighten up your diet and satisfy your palate. The deserts are to die for. If you love sweet treats without all the fat and artificial ingredients you are going to be in heaven. The apple pie is better than the one your mother used to make and definetly better for you. The sweet potatoe pie will knock your socks off as well as give your stomach a rest. No butter and cream needed here this is the real deal without the guilt.Oh and one more thing; complete your collection with the rest of the DVDs in the series: Robin Gregory's Joy of Living Foods - How to make Raw Italian favorites - Zucchetti and Lasagna Robin Gregory's Joy of Living Foods - Pizza, Pizza, PIZZA!

Rawkalicious recepies with almond milk. So long, lactose!

by Ethan Parker from Florida, USA on 2009-12-08
Please - Buy, Borrow or Steal this DVD, and Go Raw. There is no excuse. This video makes preparation quick and easy. You can not go wrong. Worth every penny. No need to use weird, expensive and difficult to find ingredients, and you're not expected to be a chef like some other do. I tell you that this DVD will save your life. You've saved my children's already. My son is lactose intolerant - Now I use almond milk for him.Almond milk is great to use as a base for smoothies. I now use it to make my favorite post-workout protein smoothie. The Rawkalicious cookies are delicious and hard to believe they are so healthy. They are not made with flour, you use the pulp from the almond milk in them and they are filled with healthy seeds: sesame, pumpkin hemp and have goji berries. Perfect snack for trips. My kids love them.I got myself the entire series: Robin Gregory's Joy of Living Foods - How to make Raw Italian favorites - Zucchetti and Lasagna Robin Gregory's Joy of Living Foods - Pizza, Pizza, PIZZA!

Fantastic, I've been waiting for this for so long...

by Northern Sally from North-East on 2009-12-08
Wow, I just learned the easy way to open a young Thai coconut. Young Thai coconuts have soft meat in them that you can spoon out and eat.. or make into delicious smoothies and desserts ..and the water in them tastes amazing too, and so healthy. I would suggest that if you don't have one, the minimum to get to assist in making many of these recipes is a good food processor and a good blender. You can always upgrade as you become more creative. The recipes are as varied, you won't believe how much you can do with raw foods!I couldn't wait to receive this DVD after ordering it from Amazon. From the product review I had read, I was excited about seeing all the mouth-watering recipes. After all, one needs to have some incentive to eat raw food over and over again. And, I wasn't disappointed.By the way, you can't miss these other videos in the series: Robin Gregory's Joy of Living Foods - How to make Raw Italian favorites - Zucchetti and Lasagna Robin Gregory's Joy of Living Foods - Pizza, Pizza, PIZZA!

An Improvement over other Sprout Jars

by Valerie Nixon from Richmond VA on 2010-02-14
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000N8FHH0/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_titleI like the large size, as the sprouts were bursting out of the smaller jars. The top is also good, in that it is not a metal material that can rust. I would have, however, preferred it to have come with different lids, containing various choice sizes of strainer holes. Also, a narrower size glass container would be easier to grasp with one hand, unless, ofcourse, it could come with a handle.

good stuff, though slightly sharp.

by Sarah M. Macleod-silberstein from Virginia on 2007-06-01
Generally a great system, generous amounts of seed included, works well, and has already paid for itself, now that I'm not buying sprouts. I did, however cut my hand on the edge of the lid-no worse than a bad papercut, but still, there's a slightly sharp little ridge of plastic where they took it out of the mold.

I live by myself in an efficiency apartment and have extremely limited resources. So I'm looking for super simple without the need for elaborate gadgets.

A welcome and highly recommended addition to vegetarian, family, and community library cookbook collections

Every dietician notes that the typical modern American fast-food, microwave frozen food oriented diet is woefully insufficient when it comes to the consumption of fruits and vegetables. That's why nutrition and health consultant Mary Rydman draws upon her more than twenty years of professional and personal experience and expertise to compile and publish "Raw Food Quick & Easy: Over 100 Healthy Recipes Including Smoothies, Seasonal Salads, Dressings, Pates, Soups, Hearty Creations, Snacks, and Desserts". Each recipe is specifically designed for time-pressured kitchen cooks who, while not being able to spend extended time in the preparation of their family meals, nonetheless want to serve family and friends with healthy, palate pleasing, appetite satisfying fare. More than just a collection of recipes showcasing the culinary accomplishments to be gleaned from fruits and veggies, "Raw Foods Quick & Easy" also provides practical and useful information on soaking, sprouting, dehydrating, and storing raw foods, key tools and ingredients when dealing with raw foods in the kitchen, and even 'user friendly' advice on increasing vital nutrients through what we eat. Of special note is the chapter devoted to 'Food and Emotions'. Featuring recipes ranging from Cauliflower Cream Curry; Vegetable Crackers; and Sesame Fudge Cookies; to Angel Pudding; Tomato Olive Soup; and Buckwheat Crunchies, "Raw Foods Quick & Easy" is a welcome and highly recommended addition to vegetarian, family, and community library cookbook collections.

Love It

I disagree with this other review. Vegans can choose not have to used raw eggs or goat cheese--these are simply an option offered by the author as a way to get vitamin B12 content in a "useable form that is hard to get from other sources." She certainly doesn't push it on people, as the egg yolk is optional the few recipes that list it as an ingredient. You need to weigh rare risks against the health benefits that a raw food can provide. If you know the conditions that your produce and even eggs come from, you'll have a slim chance at risking a bacterial infection, especially compared to mass produced foods from a big distributor. I found the recipes I've made in the book so far to be great. The book is about healthy recipes that are quick and easy to make--it's not about the fanciest recipe you can make from raw food. I definitely recommend this book to people who don't want to spend hours in the kitchen and who still want to eat raw and healthy
