Organic Food Safety

Why the liberals in Congress want to deal with the prohibition of growing our own food or eat organic food?

http://www.naturalnews.com/030440_Food_Safety_Modernization_Act_Senate.html

Corruption. Large food retailers are losing money to people who are eating organic so complained to the Liberals and Liberals are listening. We must be able to eat whatever we want without the FDA or liberal thinking they know what is best for us

How Food Safety systems to protect our food supply?

The strict implementation and maintenance of security systems food ensures health and safety of the public. The only time most people think about these systems is when they break, for example in the case of recall August 2010 eggs. After the outbreak of increasing the presence of Salmonella Enteritidis occurred, food security staff quickly traced the source of the outbreak of eggs producers in Iowa, which resulted in the removal of more than 500 million eggs.

The three branches of U.S. government are involved with public safety food, including law enforcement, regulation and the judiciary is engaged in providing decision when problems occur in our systems food security.

Companies that produce all kinds of food have the legal responsibility to ensure it is safe for public consumption, and general public has great confidence in these systems. We trust that the flour we buy, for example, are stored, milled, processed and packaged in a strict regulation and safe to consume.

Scientists, regulators, food safety agencies and public health officials work hand in hand to maintain the security safe food, and all processes are transparent and open to public scrutiny at any time.

There are five major federal organizations responsible protection of consumers that food is concerned, but dozens of other smaller agencies are also involved. The FDA is probably the first that comes to mind, but other organs including the DHHS, the organization is directly involved in food inspection and FSIS is evident that the function Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service carries out.

The Customs Service checks all foods imported into this country, equivalent to many million tons each year. The National Marine Fisheries Service inspects the fish we eat, and a specialized organization of food control which are biologically modified.

One of the main objectives of these food safety systems is to focus on the eradication of microbial pathogens in food, which are preventable, so a control system have been established along the entire length of the processing chain, from farm and ending with dinner table the public. This focus has shifted to focus on the risks of food additives and other risks to human health but is still considered very important.

The analysis of Salmonella in eggs is complete, also the studies of E. coli in ground beef and "mad cow" disease (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy). The analysis risk is currently on listeria, which can occur in some foods.

So next time you're in the supermarket, consider complex food systems and effective security in place by our government for protection.

Description

Using the example of recent foodborne illness outbreaks in the United States associated with green onions from Mexico, this report examines the economics of food safety. Incentives for growers to adopt additional food safety practices are somewhat weak. Because of asymmetric information problems, producegrown with more food safety practices does not receive higher prices. Growers that adopt more food safety practices do so to maintain markets and to reduce risk. Results from a survey before the outbreaks provide a view of the incentivesfor adopting more food safety practices. Interviews with growers after the outbreaks indicate how the costs of an outbreak vary depending on the food safety practices growers had already adopted. According to growers, the market impact lasted 1-4 months. Policy responses by growers, retailers and foodservicebuyers, and governments conclude the report.
