The old-fashioned recipes bread in cold winter days

Now that winter has set in and with it the time, cold days often rain or snow, it's time to heat your home and home with some delicious baked goods. Here is a good selection of recipes from my collection of classics that would be perfect for the kids or just for yourself to share later. Applesauce Raisin Muffins would be good after school is, the elements of school lunch, breakfast or try a hot drink and yogurt some of the proteins. Mint cookies are great for the children and remind the famous Mint Girl Scout Cookies. The Wafer Lacy oatmeal cookies are known as Havreflarn Swedish in Sweden. They are easy but not fancy. How about letting children help make homemade granola bars that can have as treats or take in their lunchboxes. Children love to eat something they helped make. So the flour, sugar, etc, put on an apron and start working on that baking!

DONE HOME Granola Bars

3 1 / 2 cups oatmeal
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup raisins
2 / 3 cup melted butter
1 / 3 cup honey
1 egg, beaten
1 / 2 teaspoon vanilla
1 / 2 teaspoon salt
1 / 2 cup brown sugar
1 can pie cherry filling

Rolled oats spread in a pan and toast in oven at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. In a bowl Large, mix oats, nuts and raisins. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add honey, egg, vanilla, salt, brown sugar and pie filling. Stir with oat mixture. Press firmly into a greased jelly roll. Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool, cut into squares.

QUICK EASY COOKIES AND MINT

This recipe was passed out on a Christmas Open House at a local flower shop in southern Indiana years. These cookies are very simple and you will be reminded of Cookies "Girl Scouts" Casa de la Moneda.

Melt a pound of semisweet chocolate coating. Add 6 drops of oil mint and mix well to combine. Dip Ritz crackers until well coated and place on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper together. Store in an airtight container and store in a cool place until ready to serve.

LACY WAFER Oatmeal Cookies

This is a cookie recipe from Sweden. It is known as Havreflarn in Sweden.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

1.2 cup butter
1 / 4 cup sifted flour
1 / 2 cup sugar
3 / 4 cup quick cooking oats
2 tablespoons cream

Melt butter in medium saucepan. Add flour, sugar, oatmeal and cream. Cook, stirring constantly, just until mixture begins to bubble. Remove the heat and stir rapidly for a few seconds. Drop by rounded tablespoons about 4-inch well-greased and floured baking sheets lightly. Rise to only 5 or 6 cookies on a baking sheet at a time. Bake at 375 degrees for five to six minutes until golden. Wafer to cool for 2 minutes in the tray. Carefully remove from a tray sheet with a thin spatula and place on a roll until firm. If cookies harden before they can be removed from the pan, heat the oven for a few seconds to soften again. Makes about 2 1 / 2 dozen.

APPLE RAISIN MUFFINS

1 large, gg

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 1 / 2 cup unsweetened applesauce

2 cups flour

3 / 4 teaspoon baking soda

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 / 2 teaspoon nutmeg

1.2 teaspoon cinnamon

3 / 4 cup raisins

Whisk the egg, oil and applesauce. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, nutmeg and cinnamon, beat well. Stir in raisins. Spoon batter into oil and flour muffin tins. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until firm to the touch and browned. Cool on wire racks. Delicious with cream cheese!

Note: This is a soft and spicy muffin. Very good.
