Protein bars are the Candy Bars in Disguise?
So you're probably wondering ... Why I think protein bars suck? After all, almost everyone seems to think that protein bars are "health food". Here are some reasons why most protein bars suck:
1. Most protein bars are marketed as "healthy food", but for be completely honest, many of them are just candy in disguise, loaded with sugars and processed fats. I've even found several brands of bars that were loaded with syrup, high fructose corn (HFCS).
Surprisingly, in my travels, I found several protein bars that contain artificial trans fat oils hydrogenated! How can something labeled as a health food containing the food additive deadliest ever invented? This is not only dishonest to sell something containing artificial trans fat and corn syrup, high fructose as "healthy food", but it is immoral!
2. Many bars protein taste like cardboard or chalk. Some protein bars are loaded with so many chemicals and stuffed with too much processed protein, they forgot that they are tasteful (ie the opposite of that protein bars are just glorified candy).
3. Many protein bars try too hard to be "low carb", and therefore, are loaded with highly processed sugar alcohols. Many people often experience problems with diarrhea and soft excess of these sugar alcohols. Embarrassing moments anyone?
4. Many protein bars have a chemical list is a mile long with stabilizers, fillers and preservatives! What happened to making these "health food"? Once again ... for some of these bars protein or energy bars, there is not a healthy lot going on.
