In 1959, President Dwight Eisenhower signed a bill to Hawaii the 50th state in the Union. That same year, historical epic by James Michener, Hawaii, was released after seven years of research. extraordinary opportunity. Fifteen years then we, the Powers family, experiencing a season of incessant rain and cold in Seattle, stapling our webbed feet and traveled to Hawaii to dry. fate Oahu was one of the eight main islands that make up the state of Hawaii. Oahu, the third largest and most populated island, is home to the capital, Honolulu, Pearl Harbor, and the tourist Mecca of Waikiki Beach.

Oahu is radiant with life, but a couple of blocks away from Kamehameha Highway, the main road in Oahu have experienced the grace and charm of the hospitality of the island. In a small sandwich shop just minutes from Waikiki Beach, we had a lunch dish served with bread delicious pineapple. (Not surprising, since Hawaii is home to the Dole pineapple plantation.) The holder of the kind of shop kindly gave me the recipe.

Pineapple Bread

Cooking spray olive oil

2 eggs

½ cup extra light olive oil

¾ cup sugar

1 teaspoon pure vanilla

3 tablespoons orange juice

1 ½ cups of pineapple chunks, drained

2 ½ cups flour

3 teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon sea salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon

½ cup chopped walnuts

Spray bread pan. Beat eggs, oil, sugar, vanilla and orange juice together. Add the pineapple chunks. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Add dry ingredients to the pineapple mixture. Mix well. Times in the nuts. Pour into sprayed pan. Bake at 350 degrees. Check in 50 minutes. Test to see if toothpick comes out clean. If not, check every 5 minutes until made. Cool bread in pan 15 minutes then remove to rack to finish cooling. Store in refrigerator.
