How to prevent insects and deer eat my herbs and orange trees in my yard?

I have a small garden and a dwarf orange tree and want to know if there are organic methods to keep insects and deer away. Also, I bought a miracle fruit tree which is a indoor tree and I do not know how not to die completely. Right now only half of the trees with leaves. I water once or twice a week depending time, but try to keep it moist without causing root rot. It has not grown since I bought it 2 months ago. Thanks

The only sure way to keep a deer about 6 feet. Garden centers sell a lot of things to keep them out. The only thing I found really worked was active motion sprinkler that sprays water deer when it detects motion at night. They also sell fox or coyote urine, but I have not heard good or bad for their success.
