A Little Bit history, a little relaxation

During the heat of the Civil War in 1862, the commanding general of the Union E. Ambrose Burnside 's North Carolina ran forces with little resistance. The last bastion of power resided with Fort Macon accomplice, a brick and stone arch erected in Banks of Boga, the housing of 400 soldiers who refused to surrender. Fort Macon did not fall until Union forces bombarded with heavy weapons of siege for 11 hours from ships war at sea.

Today, this story can be vividly imagined while walking next to walls restored Fort Macon, still standing proudly along the coast of Atlantic Beach. The value has changed somewhat, as the artillery explosions gunboats have been replaced by the laughter of children and families picnic in the pristine surf. Today, Fort Macon State Park is the most popular tourist destination in North Carolina, bringing in nearly 1.3 million visitors a year. The area has a multitude of activities for families and couples relaxing on the beach, exploring the history, taking in the unique nature of Atlantic Beach. Fort Macon Park offers visitors, both soundside surfing and fishing, nature trails, ranger guided tours, a protected swimming area and a refreshment booth, all without charge.

I recently had the opportunity to experience Fort Macon during his visit to the beautiful seaside town of Atlantic Beach, one of the smaller, quaint, communities located along the Crystal Coast. My wife and I had a wonderful weekend, spending our first day exploring the fort and our second relaxing on the beach. We live in Greensboro, and decided that the current economic times call for more affordable vacation target = "_blank"> this year somewhere within driving distance.

We stayed at the Peppertree Atlantic Beach, Surfside an oasis of beautiful with all the best amenities, which we found through a href = "http://www.vacation-offer.com/"> website called great discount vacation holiday-Offer.com. To receive the discount they were obliged to go on tour time Peppertree AA shared, it was harmless and very informative about the benefits of vacation ownership. Besides the presentation of discount and are $ 99 for 2 nights, all that happened was about $ 50 in gas and $ 25 in a seafood restaurant near the station (a total of $ 175 total break).

In the past we went on vacation to some pretty exotic places (in prices of some very exotic). However, I think the mix with a little history is a great way relaxtion to escape the everyday grind. It's comforting to explore places that have history of such places that have resisted for so long against the forces of man and nature.

Thanksgiving and Christmas Trail / Snack Mix Ideas?

What is your Thanksgiving and Christmas ideas favorite snack mix. We live on a beach (North Myrtle). Many of the houses are rented (for days or weeks or months at a time), some are not. I want to make snack mixes with my children for each of these holidays, and pass all the houses on either side of us. I prefer one that is not nuts, because of possible allergies, but I could always make one with and one without it and give people accordingly. Ideas?

What good idea. The trick to keeping it healthy, but fun and tasty enough that kids and adults will eat it. I'ma big fan of color around the holidays. Choose things that are red, orange, yellow, white and brown for Thanksgiving, and the red, green, white and yellow for Christmas, yogurt-covered raisins, dried fruit, pretzels, popcorn, cereal (Chex), tortilla chips in different colors. Some cookies and holiday cookies are formed in some forms of celebration. You could even toss in a few m & m's that are brightly colored.
