Is it okay to put a note on the gift registry, that we are clothing diapering, exclusively breastfeeding and prefer organic, natural items?

Absolutely. People would rather know what you need so they can get the right things. It is 100% okay!

Natural Baby Clothes

The conversation these days seems to circulate around natural items versus technology created.  I prefer natural baby clothes versus a synthetic material.  A 100% cotton diaper, burp cloth or baby blanket is going to give your baby the comfort they deserve.  Nothing can match the feeling of these natural fibers.  Just think about the clothes you put on and which feels better to you as an adult.

Your baby can not articulate what is feels more comfortable to them.  He or she will cry or fuss if you put something on them that is causing some sort of discomfort.  They won't be able to say "please give me that pretty pink cotton romper mom".   That's where we need to choose the best outfits for them that will keep them comfortable all day.

A 100% cotton onesie will breathe well in any weather.  This material will adapt well in the spring and summer.  A synthetic can not give the same level of comfort as the weather changes.  We all know how the weather changes daily, so get the natural material that changes with it.  It not only will make your baby happy but it is economical by not having to get outfits that fit only certain conditions.  Keep your baby in that cotton outfit and then wrap them in a fleece baby blanket when the weather gets colder.  Your baby will be all smiles.  I can't think of a better thing in life than seeing a baby smile.

Consider the little scratching and itching a synthetic material can cause in your clothing.  How many times have you put on a nice looking item and you can feel a slight discomfort for one reason or another.  You look at the materials on the label and see something man made.  It will not take long before you pick out that all cotton or wool shirt and know that the rest of your day will be good.  This is the same for your baby.

Take this beyond just the onesie or romper for your baby.  Complete the items that surround your baby's skin by getting an all fleece baby blanket and using natural burp cloths.  There is a good argument for cotton diapers too.  There is extra work involved with natural diapers, but isn't your baby worth it.  There are many other items to include when looking at natural clothing.  Look at socks, mittens or hats.  Keep that natural feel on your baby by looking at the material used each item you are putting next to your baby.
