A market analysis firm in Massachusetts, called BCC Research, says that in 2009, Americans spend over 70 billion dollars each year on anti aging products and services. This does not come as a surprise to many of us, because let's be honest, we all want to look younger and feel healthier as we age. Obviously we all know we can not stop the aging process, but surely we can stop it with the proper diet, supplements and lifestyle. In this article I will talk about healthy nutrition as part of longevity.

This is no surprise that the way to the longevity is influenced by the diet we consume. This does not mean we have to buy the best diet pills, this means that we must learn to eat healthy. For example, when the body breaks down fat, protein and carbohydrates into energy and, that generate waste products. These waste products lead to the development of free radicals that are responsible for causing damage our DNA and physical degeneration the onset of degenerative diseases (like cancer and heart disease). It is therefore important to eliminate unhealthy fats from our diet.

As a way to combat free radicals, it is recommended that adults consume an average of six fifty-five color depth portions of fruit and vegetables each day. Deep tones of fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants that fight the radicals. Besides fruits and vegetables, some other healthy food choices are whole grains, lean meats and dairy free. This is not only true for people who want to lose weight. So if you wishes to increase its life should make sure you're eating a healthy diet. Stay away from fast food, fried foods, sodium, cholesterol and any type of unhealthy fat.
