How can you tell the difference between a fresh and dried date (fruit)?

I am wondering how you know whether or not you purchased dried dates or fresh dates? (The fruit I am referring to)

To be honest, dried fruits kind of wrinkle up, so you should be able to tell. But, if you live in the USA, chances are, you won't be seeing a lot of fresh dates.
