Start with strawberry cultivation

Get the right plants

Make sure you get good plants to begin or who always fight. Donâ € ™ t be tempted by the low price, often looking brown specimens are found in the garden section of stores DIY â € "go to a garden center itself, or better yet, find your local nursery. They are usually cheaper anyway and know what they do for you can get tips from them (more youâ € ™ ll be helping support a local company).

Or grow your own

If youâ € ™ re feeling brave, you can grow plants you own corridors â € "just find a friend or neighbor with some healthy looking plants and find runners that grow out of one side (beginning as a tendril, or stems that grows from the base). When you reach a certain length to grow a set of leaves and begin to grow its own roots in the background. Carefully cut the corridor outside the main floor, cut the rest of the stem and put in a compost bin, making sure that the â € ™ € ~ crown (the top bit of brown leaf spring) is only in the surface of the earth. Make sure itâ € ™ s well-watered and placed in a warm, frost-free â € "I leave them out as I believe more resistant. Not all brokers will also do more than necessary, but it gives me a pretty good success rate and are free after all!

Get prepared the ground (about a month before planting)

Be sure to dig the ground properly and remove all the weeds as they steal the goodness of your plants. Dig into some kind of fertilizer to add nutrients and organic matter and youâ ™ € re ready to exit.

Normally the plant in spring, but you can get away with planting until September.

How the plant

Lightly soak the plants to get them out of their pots without damaging them. When planting them, make sure that the â € ™ € ~ crown is only on the surface of the soil and Dona t ™ € leaving exposed roots. You can adjust the space to accommodate to the room you have, but a good guide is to prevent 40-50cm apart. Some people plant through a layer of membrane Weed suppression This seems to work very well but I use strawberry growers purpose built to save space.

Caring for your plants

Be sure to water your plants well in spring and summer (especially if itâ € ™ s hot) and keep them well disposed. That benefit from being fed â € "a liquid fertilizer for algae or other is fine, but donâ € ™ t feed them while they € ™ re fruiting.

While the fruit, strawberries need to keep dry and out of the ground to prevent rot â € "you can use a handful of straw or a â € ~ strawberry kills € ™ for this. The birds try to eat strawberries before you get to them so be sure to network and get them out of an improv to frighten (a plastic bottle at the end of a stick works quite well).

A plant will only last about 3 or 4 years before the quality fruit becomes poor, but you can always use the â € ~ Grow your ownâ € ™ approach (described above) to obtain replacements. The strawberries can replant disorders suffer so if youâ ™ € Planning replant again in the same place, excavate the soil and replace it.
